1. Who you are buying from
Payments for Prentice are processed by Freemius, Inc. ("Freemius") as Merchant of Record. Your purchase is made from Freemius, and Freemius's Terms of Service apply to every transaction, including billing, invoicing and refund handling. Freemius issues any refund back to your original payment method.
Because Freemius is the seller of record, your purchase is also governed by Freemius's Terms of Service. This policy explains how we handle refund requests. It does not limit any right you have under that document or under mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, and Freemius may issue a refund at its own discretion regardless of the sections below.
2. How to request a refund
Email support@myprentice.ai with the email address on your account and the approximate date of the charge. You can also contact Freemius directly using the link on the receipt they emailed you.
We aim to respond within 3 business days. If a refund is approved, Freemius processes it, and the time it takes to appear depends on your bank or card issuer.
3. When we refund
There are two situations, and outside them a paid period is not refundable.
Your first payment, within 14 days, if you have not generated any applications. Contact us and we will refund it in full. This applies once, to the first period on an account.
Something on our side did not work. If Prentice failed to deliver what you paid for and we could not put it right, we refund the affected period. Tell us what happened at support@myprentice.ai.
4. When we do not refund
Unused time on a period you have already paid for. You can cancel at any time and the next charge will not be taken, but the period already paid for runs to its end and is not refunded. A subscription reserves your applications for the month whether or not you use them.
Any period in which you have generated applications. Once an application has been produced, that period is not refundable. This is the same rule as section 4.5 of our Terms of Service.
We do not pro-rate part months.
5. One-time top-ups
Top-up credits are a one-off purchase and never recur. A top-up is refundable within 14 days of purchase if none of the applications it paid for have been generated. After that, or once any have been generated, it is not refundable.
6. Access provided by an employer
If your access was provided by your employer or another organisation under a business agreement with Prentice Labs FZ-LLC, you did not pay for it, and this policy does not apply to it. Any refund of business seats is governed by that agreement. If you later buy a plan of your own, this policy applies to that purchase in the usual way.
7. Charges you did not expect
Charges from Prentice appear on your card or bank statement as FREEMIUS* Prentice, because Freemius is the Merchant of Record. If you see a charge you do not recognise, a duplicate charge, or a renewal after you cancelled, contact support@myprentice.ai and we will investigate and correct it. Report these to us as soon as you notice them.
8. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy removes or limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law where you live, or under Freemius's Terms of Service. Where those rights give you more than the sections above, those rights apply and the sections above do not reduce them.
In particular, consumers in some countries have a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase within a set period, and in some countries that right is unconditional -- it applies whether or not you have already used the Service. Where such a right applies to you it overrides this policy in full. The 14-day window in section 3 is written to sit alongside those rights, not to replace them.
